Dying! Dying in the night! Won't somebody bring the light So I can see which way to go Into the everlasting snow?                                                   by Emily Dickinson   and                                       Painting by Beth Sistrunk of Naples, FL

You Against the Force

Out of the vortex of the cosmos comes a rogue wind from which no one can turn away.  This is your destiny; it cannot be changed, for it is unseeable, imperceptible, unknowable, a chaos of events steering your life.  Your future is never a straight line; it is jerked up like the reins of an unruly horse to be dominated by an unknown force . Ergo, you have very little control.  Life is intractable.    How can you scrutinize your way through the seemingly treacherous waters of th is abyss?  You could grasp a hand hold on the sleek granite face of life by sheer force of will, or approach it by happenstance.  Can sheer willpower really work against the vagaries of life?  The capriciousness of events that influence your life is staggering.  However lofty your intentions are or how determined and energetic, fate will inevitably obstruct your path.    Should you then try to counteract all these har bing ers of doom and se...
From the Tang Song Period   Traveled to the end of the river, Sat and watched the beginning of a cloud. Occa sional ly I met the old man from ne xt door, We talked and laughed as if there were no tomorrow. The trans iency of time , the moment of here and now. The most important theme about Zen is to live the  moment as it is to the fullest.   "Be in love with you life,  Every minute of it."  Jack Kerouac
An Irish Blessing May the road rise up to meet you, May the wind be always at your back, May the sun shine warm upon your face, And the rains fall soft upon your fields, And until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of His hand.  Happy St. Patrick's Day 2013

Tropical Dusk   by   Karen Meyer I see the pale amber light Of the first moments of night. While the palms flutter slowly In the soft tropical breeze. Somewhere strains of music Remind me of the first time She slowly passed by Overwhelming me with her fragrance. Her profile against the screen  Quickens my heart To know I will be with her soon,  Soon and possibly forever.

A New Poem

The Violet  by  Karen Meyer The forest awaits my visit As it always does. The path envelopes my quiet steps When I wander deep within. I wasn't looking for it But so happily was surprised. Deep in the ne t tles and thistles Grew a solitary violet. The little bud looked so full Of future promises. Happy to share its life With the lonely traveler. Would finding this treasure Portend some romantic adventure Or the joy known only to me In a needy moment.
Here is one of my five favorite poems: "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening " by Robert Frost   Whose woods these are I think I know.  His house is in the village though; He will not see me stopping here To watch his woods fill up with snow.   My little horse must think it queer To stop without a farmhouse near Between the woods and frozen lake The darkest evening of the year. He gives his harness bells a shake To ask if there is some mistake. The only other sound's the sweep Of easy wind and downy flake. The woods are lovely, dark and deep. But I have promises to keep. And miles to go before I sleep, And miles to go before I sleep. (I think there is a message here, it speak to me,  what about you?)
